I received a press release about a month ago regarding the launch of the Krewe du Optic sunglass line. In retrospect I wished I would have fully read the first email because they even offered to let you attend the photo shoot if you contacted them, which would have been so much fun. The launch party took place Saturday August 3rd at the Dirty Coast Store on Julia Street, New Orleans. Of course, it’s silly to assume that at any given time in New Orleans there is just one thing going on. The launch party took place on white linen night where attendees dress in white, and the 300-800 blocks of Julia Street are closed off for people to walk down. As you walked down Julia Street there were food and drink stations, live bands, shops, and galleries. It was incredibly hot so people were all running inside stores to get some AC. Almost reaching the end of Julia Street was the Dirty Coast store. Outside was a beautiful cart showcasing the Krewe du Optic sunglasses. As I walked towards the counter of the store there were two lovely ladies sitting behind the Krewe du Optic display. I introduced myself as a blogger, which I rarely ever do, and we talked sunglasses. There are currently 3 classic styles: Toulouse, Calli-ope, and The Fly. Each styles has it’s own personality, and each sunglass carries the name of a park in New Orleans. My favorites were the Toulouse and the Fly. Every person that represented the Krewe du Optic brand, from the designer to the girls behind the displays, was extremely nice and approachable as you will see in the pictures below.
